Domestic airfares are expected to plummet in 2011 with airlines Virgin Blue and Qantas launching bigger planes and discount travel deals on long distance flights to Perth from Melbourne and Sydney.
Virgin will replace its 180 seat Boeing 737 aircraft with 300 seat Airbus A330s on this busy route. Qantas will replace its smaller Boeing 767s with Airbus A330s. The bigger size means more cheap airfares on economy seats.
Jetstar, Qantas’ low cost subsidiary has significant expansion plans on key routes and Tiger Airways plans to add another 11 planes to its fleet.
All this means cheap flights for you the traveller.
If you are visiting from overseas, 2011 will be a great year to visit Australia and discover its unique attractions.
